JUANDOLO BIO
The "New Me" release tells the story of a young man experiencing the transition between adolescence and manhood, rebellion and submission, and decline and growth. The alias "Juandolo" owes its origin to two primary threads of experiences throughout the artist's life. One is the acceptance of his heritage. John Christian Bernard, a.k.a. "Juandolo" was born on November 30, 1979 in Pusan, South Korea. His mother, Kim, a naturalized U.S. citizen from South Korea, is a talented seamstress and his father, Michael a. Bernard, Sr., a native born African American citizen, is an insurance broker.
John grew up in a middle class home and through his childhood experienced many race related incidents. He has had many bitter experiences and difficulties that many bi-cultural children are exposed to. So his life wasn't geared around the typical "American Dream", but more around a search for identity.
He felt he was a social outcast and never found his true self, so he turned to the streets. There he would meet many people who didn't care about race, but cared more about making money and the fast life. This point of his life was a scary and unpredictable time because one would never know what to expect.
During the next six months, John, who had been in the church most of his life, actually began to pay attention. One Sunday, half asleep at the back of the church, John got called by God to be baptized and pledged himself to be a Christian. With most of the CD finished, and his parent's money tied up in the music production, the whole CD turns in a completely different direction. Many of the songs that were written are like diary entries - they tell you about what he was doing, who he was with, and the life he lived with and through them. This Bio will provide a clearer understanding of what was going on in his mind and around him at the time.
Throughout this time period, "Juandolo's" parents never gave up on him. They continued to reach out to him in faith that one day he would change and get better. For the most part their prayers have been answered because he is no longer a part of the streets, and is trying to do things right. Things don't happen overnight - it's a long process, but he's come a long way.
